Brave hearts

This series is about women. Some people call them self-destroyers.

They are object of hatred and judge by society, someone see them as sexless thing, someone compare them with furyies. Woman-bikers is rare phenomenon for Russian roads. In society with strong patriarchal values idea about female motorbikers movement seems very absurd. But there are three motoclubs in different parts of country.

Russian motorcycle subculture was born in 80s, but first female club (“Krylija” — “wings” by translation) was found in 1999. Ten years later some female clubs  organized in Siberia. At this moment we have 3 famous siberian clubs: all-Russia “Letavici”, “Vsadnici” from Krasnoyarsk and the community “The Free Ride Girls”.

Followed by the tradition in regular clubs women are not accepted as members, and some of  these associations do it zealously.

Male clubs have a strong hierarchy and nephew must go a hard way to become an “accepted”. As usually to get in the club you must have a recommendations and that’s why there is almost no random outsiders there. Populous of women is much less and usually they are from beginning.

Female clubs have a lot of differences from male’s ones. First of all that many of them don’t have hierarchical structure, does not organaze festivals or other events. Some of them find their way in charity, like “The Free Ride Girls”. Many of women  don’t join in communities but it isn’t a barrier to communicate with each other and movement overall.
